You can definitely conclude that they had no leverage (I'm concluding that shutdowns are not something that Democrats can effectively leverage!).
I think the lesson from that is that they should have just averted the shut down to begin with and should in the future.

Folks, no party or faction that has triggered a shutdown has ever gotten its demands met in a shutdown. That was always the risk going in. People (like me) were saying you were going to have to deal with eventual disappointment going in.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

When i was choosing a local prescriber for an online pharmacy, one of the three options didn't have a photo with her bio. The other two were white women.
My guess was that her photo wasn't there because she's Black, because this is Ohio. She is indeed Black, and she fucking rocks.
