I'm ventuing into spicy territory but the idea that farming game is "the quintessential indie genre" now is IMO more reflective of what indie genres people view with an element of distaste bc trust me when I say there are 1000x more vampire survivors/run based roguelikes out there than farming games

This is incorrect.

1. The opt-out for creators is channel-wide, not per-video. It's available in YouTube Studio right now.
2. The low-res versions aren't going away. YouTube will automatically generate multiple upscaled copies, but you can still choose to view the 144p/240p versions if you want.

Turn visual & audio quality enhancement settings on or off
1. Sign in to YouTube Studio & on your computer.
2. Click Settings I > Channel ›
Advanced settings.
3. Check or uncheck the Let YouTube enhance visual quality box.
4. Check or uncheck the Let YouTube enhance audio quality box.
5. Click Save.
