3 years after release Gamest covered Mega Zone in their introduction to Konami article. It's a tough game but if you collect enough power stocks you can swap a remaining life for a mega tank with 3x the firepower. Lots of branching paths & diagonal scrolling, which was still impressive at the time

there was like 3 people that 1CC'd this for the Caravan out of hundreds. It's harder than OutRun but also 100% fair. Cross a checkpoint & your timer becomes a flat 60 seconds, so it's always possible to clear the stage🏁

This week's Arcade Archives release is Top Speed / Full Throttle, Taito's 1987 drive-em-up and predecessor to Chase H.Q.. Make it through the multi-route stages within the time limit, and use the nitro speed boost to blast through!
