I'm old enough to remember (I'm over one year old) when we were all told to shut up about labour's left wing credentials because the renters rights and employment rights bills were on the way. how are those going lxds? how are my rights looking?
NEW: The UK Government have abandoned plans to give workers day-one protection against unfair dismissal in a bid to ensure it’s Employment Rights Bill makes it through Parliament 👇

Also in UK and elsewhere, you can get HPV Vax up to age 45 (not always free), which a lot of folk don't know.
This is wonderful news, and also means it’s time for me to beat the drum I always do when HPV vaccines make the news:

They are not only for women! HPV also causes penile, anal, and head and neck cancers. The latter are particularly deadly. Please vaccinate ALL your children.
Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s.

This is the power of vaccines.

The HPV vaccine is extremely effective at preventing cancer.

Viruses can be oncogenic. Get your vaccines and protect yourself!

Felt like this when mortgage payments went up a few years ago - yes, it's horrible to now be paying an extra £200 a month, but that's been happening to renters year on year and there were no sadface articles on that, just "market forces" and "nobody has a right to live in a city"
This house tax pretending is making me more insane than usual because as a renter I’ve had to move every 1-3 years just as standard because rents always rise. And no one cares. House owners get a tiny fraction of that precarity and suddenly it’s the worst thing that’s ever happened

Good morning to pure hearts
To what remains of humanity
To those who embraced our sorrow and loss without asking for anything in return
To the far away who feel closest in spirit
Good morning to those who revived supported, and shared our burdens
With you, morning is truly good

It was 'complicated and sad' for her to be at her dads funeral in the morning and back to clearing his flat that afternoon, facing a move to a one bed flat assigned by the council in a part of town she didn't know, where her dad was her only connection to the place.

By contrast, my elderly neighbour Gordon needed 24/7 care in his 2 bed council flat. His daughter moved in, saved the state ££s in care costs. Gordon died 11 months later. His daughter hadn't been there 12 months, was 'underoccupying' the flat, she was given 14 days to clear his stuff & move out.
Mumsnet is already on the case.

What was the big difference between those two time frames? 🧐
“The CDC said in its 2024 report—which compared data from two time periods, 2011-2013 and 2020-2022—that stroke prevalence had risen nationally by almost 8%. But among people aged 18 to 44, the prevalence of stroke increased by almost 15%”

keep freaking out about having chills, even though i’m bad at temperature regulation at the very very best of times, and i’m assuming my dysautonomic body is currently very busy directing all its energy towards healing so there’s less there to try and make my temperature feel normal
