As the author of a book for students on how to write history essays...I can teach them everything they need except if they start w a stunted vocabulary from never reading much, I can't do a thing. It's not just knowing the words. It's about making fine distinctions in meaning between similar words.
i still don't really understand how essays got so difficult for students to write. like i get it in the abstract but like, damn it's not that tall an order. and i'm not even amazing at it. it's just such a simple format
