i was lucky not to have to work for most of college. i think i was taught how to write papers relatively poorly in high school but i was still able to be placed directly into english 101 and not remedial english in community college because of my very high accuplacer scores. my english 101....

yeah it's hard to escape this as a partial cause. i got really good at reading as a kid and it's not unlikely that my relative facility with writing was caused by this
