To take a swing at it, it's because of his hold on the base beyond just the crazies. He may be unpopular, but my take is that they see him as a unique opportunity to be maximalist in their approach and have it all be associated with him and not them. Vance doesn't offer them the same cover.

This is a thing I keep explaining to people who never dealt with CBP in the before times.

I grew up in a border town in the 80s/90s and CBP has ALWAYS been staffed entirely by shitheads with giant chips on their shoulders.

Our 6yo is sick with a 103°F fever. Tonight at bedtime I told him, "I'm really sorry you're sick, buddy" and he responded, "It's ok, Daddy. I accept your sorry," and then rolled over and fell asleep.

I remember as a kid asking my dad what stops the President from doing bad stuff he isn't authorized to do by Congress if they agree with him and him saying something like "because people with power almost never give it up without a fight."

I'm sure it's a bad idea, actually, but if the current constitutional order is collapsed, then maybe we just send some folks to a hall somewhere and draft a new one and send it around for ratification to see what happens. Worked in 1787.

I never got it either until my doctor recommended I try it because I was constantly dealing with ingrown toenails.

It is a very nice experience. You don't have to do anything for presentation.

FWIW I changed how I take care of my nails based on recs from the pedicurists I met.
