Oh wow hi new followers, welcome along on this long, strange trip we call life.

I'm Revontulet, I'm an Aquarius, I immigrated to Canada nearly 15 years ago from the US, I like photography, cooking, house/bass music, stories about your cats, & playing Diablo 4. I'm learning to DJ & make bad mashups.

"ending remote work" is such a terrible, hostile, anti-worker thing that so many organizations have decided they need to do in order to subjugate their workforce further, and I pray it marks the beginning of a new and robust labor movement. senseless cruelty
2. Rolling Stone is owned by a large media conglomerate, which is ending remote work across its brands.

My home is Portland, Oregon, ~1,000 miles from the nearest office, so this marks the end of the line for me at RS.

the annual harrowing tale that led to so much of how modern toronto was created since
1. On this day 71 years ago, Toronto woke to discover the city had been devastated by a terrible hurricane.

Here's my annual thread about the horrors unleashed by Hurricane Hazel...

Uber's just a platform for temp work whose workforce happens to be in cars.
Uber is giving drivers and couriers an option to do on-screen gig work when they're not ferrying people or food around -- it's mostly data collection and data labeling for AI companies. (How long until they are helping train their own replacements, robotaxis & robots?) www.cnbc.com/2025/10/16/u...
Uber will offer gig work like AI data labeling to drivers while not on the road
Uber says it's offering drivers ways to make money when not ferrying around passengers.

The fishing joke kills….just ask the Trinidadian dudes murdered yesterday to serve as a punchline for oligarchs laughter. WH is like a comedy club from hell (or a bro comic festival in KSA). This country is sh*t.

GOP hypocrisy really isn't. Their lies are always to fuel their goals, and they are fascists. And their goals are white supremacy.

Of course women don't like the Cybertruck.

Women only want one thing, and it's a vintage Unimog!
An old Unimog, it's a small cream coloured truck that's shaped like a truck instead of a racecar bed

In Canada:

80% of educators have witnessed misogyny in classrooms, including disrespect toward women and unhealthy stereotypes.

67% have seen incel-influenced beliefs linked to real-world gender-based violence.

Never mind 'Male Loneliness Epidemic'. THIS is what needs attention.

Reminder that if you do come across something like this, try to snap a photo of the person's face, if only to quietly share it among antifascist organizers.
There was a man on the metro tonight who had a swastika, an SS symbol, and the letters KKK all drawn on his bag. I hope he trips and falls in a pothole.

Another day in America where you have to check your over-priced food to make sure it's not being recalled for whatever the thing is.

Today's recall is ready rice. Fortunately, neither of my packages are included, but yours may be.

I swear I can feel my cognitive function declining by the day
My husband got me some grape Gatorade and soup 🥰

Every time I get anything grape flavoured it reminds me of the Beavis and Butthead episode where they see the school psychologist, Beavis gets the last grape lollipop and Butthead says, "It's not gonna taste like grape when it's up your butt." 🤣
Well crap, guess I'm still quite sick. Going into the office yesterday was a terrible mistake. I don't even know why I went in, except maybe because my brain is on autopilot and glitching out.

34 trenches, 2 kilometres long filled with bodies. As these were dug up and potentially tens of thousands of corpses reburied, the Assad regime was being interviewed in Western media outlets, his English skills mattering more than anything he was doing.
My biofather and his brother thought it was the height of comedy to let me and my cousin watch "Evil Dead" when we were like 5 or 6, and then spend the rest of the evening scaring the shit out of my cousin until he cried by telling him it was real.
It's not entirely covert either; one of my earliest memories is watching news reports about the murder of Mulugeta Seraw at the hands of skinheads.
