Everyone deserves to feel safe & welcome in our downtown. Right now too many don't.

The majority of the issues impacting us are the responsibility of the UCP government. We need them to step up.

My Downtown Safety Toolkit shows exactly how they can.

Lauren, a high school social studies teacher, is putting it all on the line to demand better from the UCP.

Better classrooms.
Better support.
Better public education.

All for Alberta's kids.

Thank you, Lauren.

Some have been asking what we did for education while we were in government.

See the facts below:

⛪️ Built & modernized 244 schools
💰 Funded education per student above the national average
🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Fully funded for enrollment & inflation every year

Alberta deserves better.

Better is possible. #abpoli

Scared for strike talk at the dinner table? Don't worry, we have you covered with the facts on education. ⬇️
Line chart showing Alberta’s real dollars per student dropping under the UCP. Text highlights: Alberta is last in per-student funding, class sizes of 40+, and that the UCP could have acted months ago. Students walking toward a school. Text says Alberta’s NDP built and modernized 244 schools in four years, while the UCP has only built or modernized 78 in five years. Student standing in a library aisle. Text says Alberta’s NDP funded education per student above the national average and that past NDP funding remains higher than the UCP’s, even with inflation. Classroom scene with raised hands. Text says Alberta's NDP introduced a 2023 bill to bring back class size reporting, and the UCP defeated it.

Myth: Teachers have it easy - they get paid full-time & only have to work school hours, 10 months of the year.

Truth: Many work unpaid hours - mornings, evenings and weekends - & through their breaks to support students.

I asked Katie, a junior high teacher in Edmonton, to break it down. #ableg

This morning I talked to Katie, a junior high teacher in Edmonton, about the challenges at her school.

What she shared is heartbreaking & result of the UCP funding AB schools at the lowest level per student in all of Canada.

Alberta’s teachers are fighting for better.

I stand with them. #abpoli

A few thoughts on Day 3 of the teacher’s strike.

Albertans I’m hearing from are clear - this is on the UCP and their failure to properly fund public education.

Teachers, students & families deserve better. #abpoli

Students & teachers deserve better than the lowest funding per student in all of Canada.

Albertans deserve better & better is possible.

That’s what teachers are striking for - their students, their schools & our future.

And Alberta’s New Democrats stand with them.✊🏽 #abpoli

The message was clear - Albertans stand with teachers. And so did we.

Over 20,000 people gathered at the Legislature to fight for public education & tell Danielle Smith & the UCP they need to fix what they’ve broken in our schools. #abpoli
dshepyeg.bsky.social
Students are standing up & speaking out in support of their teachers & against the UCP’s underfunding of our education system.

They know they deserve better than the lowest funding per student in all of Canada.

It’s time for Danielle Smith & the UCP to listen & step up. #ableg

Ran into classmate from Eastglen High School today at the Fight for Public Education rally today!

Tara teaches in Morinville and she came out to stand with her colleagues & thousands of others to call for better for our education system.

Great to see you, Tara!

Danielle Smith's 'plan' for a pipeline is nothing but a pipe dream.

There's no route, no partner, no funding, and no consultation. Just another $14 million of taxpayer funds wasted on a project that does nothing and goes nowhere.

We stand with Alberta teachers.

With students & families.

For better than the lowest funding per student in all of Canada.

It’s time the UCP steps up with a deal that supports smaller classes, safer classrooms, better supports, & fair compensation for teachers.

Better is possible. #abpoli

Imperial Oil is pulling jobs and closing its headquarters in Calgary. Families are paying the price for Danielle Smith’s instability.

We need a government with a plan for economic growth and attracting investment.

That's the only way we'll rebuild the Alberta advantage.

It's official: Alberta now has the lowest minimum wage in the country. 🏅

The minimum wage hasn't been raised since 2018, and Danielle Smith has no plans to change this.

A committee can't build a pipeline, especially when there's no route, no proponent, and no real funding. There’s also no commitment from the federal government to repeal the legislation that would make this pipeline possible.

In Danielle Smith's own words, this is an 'utter failure.'
'An utter failure:' UCP government announces yet another committee
Danielle Smith herself said it would be “an utter failure” to have the government build a project like this, and yet here we are.
