This is one of my favourite bits of short fiction I've written lately. I'm taking the paywall off it for 24 hours only, as preview of the collection of short stories I'm self-publishing this year, and to hopefully lure a few more of you into subscribing to my website: www.tom-cox.com/my-ex-husban...

I love that Timor-Leste, that new, small country so badly treated by Australia, has taken such a radical, yet logical stand against human rights abuses and crimes agains humanity committed by the vaious military juntas in Myanmar.
With international law at a ‘breaking point’, a tiny country goes after Myanmar’s junta on its own
As violence escalates around the world, victims are increasingly looking for justice in domestic courts, rather than international ones.

Billionaires: "Cost of living crisis is complicated."
Also billionaires: putting anti-theft stickers on pork like it’s a Rolex because food now needs security guards.
Nothing says healthy society like protecting meat from hungry people.

Congratulations to Sociology.
I do want to shout-out my fellow sociologists, who have collectively created a discipline so woke that not a single one of our introductory textbooks can make it past Florida's censors.

Great work everyone.

I don't say this often but: I'm so proud to be a climate and environment reporter. We cover an issue that is vitally important to humanity and the natural world. 14 of my climate colleagues at the Post were laid off today and I'm devastated.

Tender writing:

“it’s this that seems possibly the most quaint and vintage thing of all: the philosophy of going away on your own and doing something well and not telling anybody about it.

Some people called it The Me Decade… But for us it was more like The Don’t Mind Me Decade.”
