I knit, I read, I sew. I've tried most textile crafts and am even half way competent at some not listed. Not tatting though or lace.

I cosplay. I read fanfic. In fact I will read almost anything.

Not qualified to give legal advice.
In respect of Eastercon for this year, as my sewing area is currently what might be politely called "under renovation" I think any new cosplay will be bought not made, but that does not preclude staining/dyeing/distressing/hand sewing/embroidery and other decorations/ etc etc.

Last year I did spindle spinning at Eastercon while in cosplay, specifically a very long skirt. The nice thing about Eastercon is that I could sit in a quiet area and do spindle spinning, I did have a couple of conversations with people who wanted to know more but didn't get their contact details :(

Morning, bsky! I come seeking knowledge!

What's your favourite restaurant or pub in or around Caernarfon? I'd prefer dog friendly and with nearby parking if possible!

Thanks in advance 😘

PS- if you or anyone in your household is on chemo and you have a septic tank, get it drained more often because the chemo chemicals in their pee will eat through your tank if it sits too long

Trying to cast on for a lace blanket, circular, to be knitted in the round. Starts with 8 stitches. Actually, starts with the needles falling out of the 8 stitches several times before I manage to move on... #Knitting

Yeah, so I put Snake Eater by @tkingfisher.com on my non-kindle-ereader (bookshop.org ebook). Opened it to check it worked OK. 21% later and I am invested now!

Now I have my library book app tablet set up right (also does wont-work-on-kindle ebooks) it appears that if, like me, your library is subscribed to two (2) different ebook services (libby and borrowbox in this case), you can take your full book limit from each one. So, that's a thing oops.

Resharing this whole ass thread about how well proper masking works.
Masks work.

I'm planning on doing more hand sewing in 2026, starting with this old shirt cast off by my Uni Student child which I wear for messy tasks, and will fix the tear and remove the sleeve strap things which are badly positioned and annoying! The strap fabric will be used to mend the tear :) #Sewing

Today, I have bought ebooks directly from three different authors, and seen that my next ebook purchase is on bookshop.org for when I'm ready for it. I feel that I get books to hide in, and the authors get a bigger percentage of my money. We all win!
Bookshop.org: Buy books online. Support local bookstores.
A better way to buy books online. Every purchase financially supports local independent bookstores.

First FO of 2026! Pair of socks, and I still need to graft the toe on the second sock. #Knitting #SockKnitting

Taking advantage of the fact that I'm still on holiday until tomorrow, I'm watching YouTube sewing videos (Stephanie Canada for sewing chaos today) and knitting the toe of the second sock in a new pair of socks for me.

I have a selection of cheap, pretty earrings which I leave on their cards (think Claire's multipack level) which appeal to my magpie approach to jewellery. I really need to figure out a better way of storing them because sometimes I will find a sad, lone earring back with no idea where it belongs...

In this Year of Reading, a gentle reminder:
The best way to get your kids reading is to let them see *you* reading. The way to *stop* your kids reading is to criticize their choices, or to make reading a competition, or a punishment, or a race, or a learning tool. Let it be fun. Let them read.

Two people buried at two different sites in England in the 7th century CE have been shown to have West African ancestry, probably a paternal grandfather in both cases.

Remember this if someone says that a historical novel set in the UK is "unrealistic" because it includes characters of color.

Now I've finished all my knitting for other people, I can focus on things for me, including my St Bees Shawl in a gradient yarn. Note the lifelines in the lace section, proof that I cannot trust myself to reliably count to 9!

It's frosty enough that I've dug out for the once or twice a yearly wear my 100% wool twinset I knitted many years ago. It is kind of itchy but also gloriously warm. So warm, it has to be exceedingly cold before I can wear it without melting.

Started 2026 with a nice (if frosty) walk and then a tasty pastry. So healthy and also unhealthy, all mixed up.

I wish everyone the proportion of nice walk to tasty pastry you are looking for for 2026!

If you see items in a black box like this on the Amazon app (presumably similar on desktop), do NOT use Amazon to purchase. Go to the artist's site directly to see what they actually have, buy more easily, and not support this garbage concept that big corps can scrape whatever they want.

meanwhile.... medicine has taken INSANE leaps and bounds in the last 2 years.
we're out here curing HIV and leukemia and creating 100% efficacy vaccines against all sorts of cancers, and now this??
