I knit, I read, I sew. I've tried most textile crafts and am even half way competent at some not listed. Not tatting though or lace.

I cosplay. I read fanfic. In fact I will read almost anything.

Not qualified to give legal advice.
I believe this week's #ShowMeYourKnits is garter stitch... so this is a very old pattern from Patons and Baldwin for a baby blanket, knitted in garter stitch, 2 pky yarn. Intended for the baby of a colleague, baby due April (so no thick warm jumper for this baby!)

Finally! #knitting

Trying to cast on for a lace blanket, circular, to be knitted in the round. Starts with 8 stitches. Actually, starts with the needles falling out of the 8 stitches several times before I manage to move on... #Knitting

I'm planning on doing more hand sewing in 2026, starting with this old shirt cast off by my Uni Student child which I wear for messy tasks, and will fix the tear and remove the sleeve strap things which are badly positioned and annoying! The strap fabric will be used to mend the tear :) #Sewing

Done! Kinda not identical but still warm and cosy. Will never regret memorising how to graft toes so I could do it a. At a convention b. On a train and now c. While watching a video. #Knitting #SockKnitting

First FO of 2026! Pair of socks, and I still need to graft the toe on the second sock. #Knitting #SockKnitting

For example, a lone butterfly earring back which I think should be paired with a small plain silver hoop.

Now I've finished all my knitting for other people, I can focus on things for me, including my St Bees Shawl in a gradient yarn. Note the lifelines in the lace section, proof that I cannot trust myself to reliably count to 9!

Listening to podcasts and spinning, not watching films and knitting, last minute change of plans. Also wearing dark colours and spinning pale fibres, not the smartest idea. #spindleSpinning #FiberArts #Spindle

Knitting a sock and reading @juliethecranky.bsky.social excellent writing on ao3. #Knitting #SockKnitting

Finished all the knitting on the cardigan, so now I've switched to socks, for me. I do love the stitch pattern this produces. Pattern is H's everyday sock, named by me Hermina's everyday sock after my grandmother, who used to test patterns for Patons and Baldwin. Yarn is Stylecraft Head over Heels.

Today's #ShowMeYourKnits is cardigans, and as I'm almost finished with this cardigan I am making for my grown up child, I sharing the view of the first pocket, just finished now. The second pocket will be the last knitting on this :)

So it appears that enough people complained to cause the decoration to be removed!

Fun fact, the rising sun behind d the buildings made it quite hard to photograph.

I think the side/thumb view is my fav part of these gloves. Hated knitting it though, it seemed to go on for ever!

It is cold, and I've put these fingerless gloves on. They are super warm but also very dense.

The advantage of knitting something that is almost entirely plain garterstitch is that I can also read at the same time. Working my way through A K Faulkner's Spells of Summer and its just stopped being, for this writer, cozy.

I have several books on the go at any time, and one of the ones I'm reading is this. I first read it about 15 years ago. Now I have the whole series, and am rereading. I did forget quite how much this is just cliche after cliche, with a little signposting the plot. Easy to read though.

Someone is doing some amazing street art near my office. This makes me think of Blodeuwedd, and Alan Garner's Owl Service.

This week's #ShowMeYourKnits is for WIPs. My colleague, with the tiniest of baby bumps, agreed that yes she loves hand knitted items for babies, and that colour wise blues would be good. Oh, and due in January!!! Sooo I'm doing TinCanKnits Marley blanket as fast as I can.

Went for a walk. The trees are feeling autumnal here!

Trial run of my bat print dress went well, I managed to build a bookcase while wearing, so am going to assume I can do a day's work in the office while suitably Halloween clothed tomorrow. Also please see the label, and my tights!

So roadworks on my bus route means ample opportunities for photos of cows. Yes, my urban, London bus route. Yes cows.

I have a new bookcase, so books are coming off the floor. So good, I can see what I've got now :) and someone was talking about Louise Cooper a while ago, I know I had some of her books (the rest have yet to be located, I believe they're in the bedroom shelves).

The interesting thing about reorganising and tidying is you can answer the question, where did my shawl pins go...? One found in an old hand bag, one under the sofa.

Today I am wearing the Halloween dress I made out of quilting cotton to see whether it will be OK if I want to wear it to the office on Friday. Its purple, with a black bat-and-spider-web print. And drapes like a plank of wood. Dress pattern is (as ever) Tilly and the Buttons Indigo. No alterations.
