The Chosen One Con is the first book in the Lost in the Aether duology—a queer gaslamp fantasy of industrial magic in a world of designer enchantments and celebrity-branded potions.

It's part of @the-book-bazaar.com crowdfund launching November 12th!

This indie author is only $288 away from funding an audiobook production of a sweet gay scifi book. Would you pledge for an ebook or physical book to help close the gap? So close!
A lonely ex-lab subject on the run, a sweet failed mercenary trying to move on, an exploration of each other through space.

Help fund the audiobook and get exclusive content!

Side characters from The Chosen One Con I haven't spoken about much:

Belladonna is a drag queen that acts as a mother figure to both Max and Hope and spends time with both! She is fabulous of course, and it's her idea to pretend to be Max's maid and help him in the contest.

I turn 33 this week and I couldn't miss the opportunity of referencing Expedition 33 and performing a strange combo 🥖

You can get all my short stories in a free bundle on Payhip.
Umbra: Tales of a Shadow is going to be only 0.99 everywhere until December 7.

Bayley fights with the kitten by rolling on his back and screaming dramatically. I don't know what this technique is called, but it doesn't seem very effective.

Rolling my ankle when I'm walking along a road just as a car comes along and runs over my head, squashing it like a watermelon.
One thing you’re irrationally afraid of?

I’ll give you mine. Being in surgery and the hospital losing power.

So November was my worst month for book royalties, even worse than September lol but at least I'll have £27 in time for my birthday in two months?

My crowdfund only has a couple more days on it, and I appreciate everyone who has supported it thus far! I know who you are, and you're on my imaginary Christmas card list 😂

From The Chosen One Con:

Max fell for Lyle because of his dark sense of humour, blunt opinions, and gorgeous red hair.

Lyle fell for Max because he was the only one in the city to show him kindness by offering him a bed and food, and then he fell for his charm.

I'm listening through Tales of Lunis Aquaria, Vol 2 as a last check.

This volume has eight new stories set in Lunis Aquaria, pick a number between 1 and 8 and I'll give a non-spoilery snippet from the story of your choice!

(if someone picks the same number, I'll post a different line)

I get what this post is saying, but for most self-published and indie authors, bookstores won't stock our books.
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

Been thinking about this all night. I'm so deeply shocked and saddened. Matt was loved by the community.
I'm very sad to share the news that our lovely @chaoticauthor.online has passed away. His ending was peaceful and surrounded with love but came far too quickly after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

I've known Matt for years. He was a warm, gentle, generous, all-weather friend. I miss him.
