Culturally, it’s really annoying that the simple human joy of watching amusing cat incidents is being taken away from us. These kinds of videos are watchable because they reflect something true (cats are crazy a-holes) and because they’re happening to some other guy (schadenfreude). AI ruins that.

I'm disappointed in the Girl Guides and the WI for caving to this, but I'm *furious* with the transphobes and the supreme court and the EHRC and the government for causing this situation, when even trans inclusive institutions are throwing people out.

Apparently the decision of the WI to rescind trans inclusion was prompted in part by an internal faction. If I were a cis member of the WI, I would want those bigots named,shamed and shunned.

Really great that one billionaire bankrolling nuisance lawsuits by cranks can force a restructure of our entire society in order to impose discrimination against a marginalised minority. Real fucking triumph of democracy there.

IANAL but it seems these organisations have been advised that it is safer to knowingly breach the equalities act by discriminating on the basis of gender assignment than to face the costs of being sued by terf bigots being bankrolled by, well, some of the worst people in the world.

A petition against the Guides for this decision isn't going to do anything other than make the Guides come to the same decision s second time. It may make you, briefly, feel better, but it won't change anything. Direct that energy at the government, not at the Guides

There's no point in getting angry at the Guides or the WI for no longer being trans inclusive, and while there are people saying "but they have loads of money; they can fight this in court", that money isn't intended for legal costs; it's for running the orgranisations

Also, the “loads of money” thing absolutely isn’t true. Can’t speak for the Guides but the WI is run on a shoestring and is constantly doing fundraising activities because otherwise it cannot operate. It does not have the money to go up against a group bankrolled by a vindictive billionaire.
