A lot of people with huge follower counts have been following me lately, so I feel compelled to say this.

Hi. I'm not going to follow you back, especially if I don't recognize you. I doubt you're really here to watch me talk about packing up my books so I can move house, but you never know.

Re Graham Platner: A lot of folks are just now realizing how much our military’s culture is deeply right-wing and regressive—a place where Nazi and white nationalist iconography are commonplace (even if sometimes not recognized by the troops themselves).

This was literally last year:
Army investigating social media post showing Nazi symbol
The Army opened an investigation after a National Guard unit posted a photo online that contained a symbol worn by Nazi SS troops.

apparently it’s time for another reminder that straight white men also have identity politics, *even the ones on the left*, and we are seeing that very much in action with regards to the Pod Save America bros defending fellow bro Graham Platner

Why does everyone keep calling it “The Epstein Ballroom?” Please stop repeating “The Epstein Ballroom” because it is not called “The Epstein Ballroom!” Don’t tell the news that it’s called “The Epstein Ballroom” and please don’t repost this!!!!!

Not enough of you believe me right now, but "Rebuild The White House" is going to become one of the most popular slogans in American political history

"It won't touch the building."

"It will just be the East Wing facade."

"It will just be the East Wing."

"It will just the whole White House."

(If no-one stops them, why would they stop?)

By destroying the east wing of the White House, Trump has inadvertently destroyed the containment facility hidden there, releasing the ghosts of all past presidents

Honest Question: can't you go after the companies doing the demolition?
“We will rebuild the White House as it was and pay for it by seizing assets from Trump, the Trump Organization, and his family.”
None of this is legal! People are choosing to break the law! Other people are choosing not to hold them accountable! What the fuck!!!

The destruction of the White House is such an ungodly abomination that, of course, the New York Jets are involved.

Trump 2.0 remains a live experiment in "can you do authoritarian consolidation entirely based on control of the information environment while repeatedly kicking your own coalition in the teeth"

(I don't know what the answer is! the experiment is ongoing!)

yes, Trump could technically waive all of them in order to get started on a quick demo and build, BUT the thing that he'd have to waive would easily be potentially *yeeeeaaaars* of due diligence & planning. so the possibility that he simply told all the nerds & planners to fuck off is pretty high.

They fucked up the demolition by not doing the proper due diligence and to cover that up, they are tearing it all down.

these are some really quick markups I sent to a former coworker over chat yesterday, and it's VERY difficult to draw any conclusions about what all was happening here without actually knowing plans, but yes, I see some very big hints that they actually fucked up what was *supposed* to be a partial.

“To summarize: Three steps must be taken to smash the war racket. 1. We must take the profit out of war. 2. We must permit the youth of the land who would bear arms to decide whether or not there should be war. 3. We must limit our military forces to home defense purposes.”

I was wholly unaware that the White House had final say in who becomes mayor of any municipality.
Trump: "It looks like we're gonna have a Communist as the mayor of New York. But here's the good news -- he's gotta go through the White House. Everything goes through the White House. At least this White House it does."

Awful: Trump's $230 million shakedown from DOJ can be paid to him confidentially at first, without the public ever finding out about it until later, Rep Jamie Raskin tells me.

Raskin will formally demand full communications between WH and DOJ on this.

New from me:

Trump’s Vile New $230 Million Shakedown of DOJ Just Got Even Worse
It’s bad enough that Trump wants—and DOJ will likely fork over—this tribute payment. Now, get this: It can probably be done at first without even being revealed publicly.

Nazism has alwasy circled around American politics in weird ways.

In 1985, Ronald Reagan laid a wreath at a German cemetery where Nazis were buried while saying they "were victims, just as surely as the victims in the concentration camps."

I feel like people missed this. On the $230 million shakedown, when Trump said, "I'm the one that makes the decision," he accidentally confirmed that he is appropriating for himself the power to order Todd Blanche to approve it:
