I am a Californian. I love so much about the state where I was born. But it isn't perfect. When I think about what went wrong, it isn't hard to look at the automobile as one of the major causes of most of what ails it.
Caltrans: "We just spent a billion dollars widening this highway and traffic is worse than ever...but we've got one more fix we think will work. Trust us!"

All joking aside, parliamentary systems (in which there is a Prime Minister who is elected by the legislature) perform better on many metrics than presidential systems like ours.
If we were to rewrite the constitution today, we should have a Prime Minister, not a president.
