The White House has installed new plaques along President Donald Trump's "Presidential Walk of Fame," featuring descriptions that read like his Truth Social posts, including insults and random capitalization. CNN's Kaitlan Collins reports from the White House.

My sense is that the “male loneliness crisis” is not really about addressing men’s emotional needs but rather the relatively newfound absence of having someone to perform domestic labor for you quietly in the background now that there is a longer gap between your mother and your wife doing it

““UBI = a foundation…income is earned on top. A poverty-line UBI is not “the replacement paycheck for the post-work apocalypse.” .... It prevents the worst outcomes, stabilizes consumer demand, & gives ppl leverage to say no to exploitation”
New article from me in response to Eduardo Porter's article in The Guardian where he built a straw man of universal basic income to light on fire again, just as he did back in 2016, showing he's learned nothing new about UBI in a decade but is still happy to opine about it.

Someone sent me a link to the Twitter version of Eric's post, and the comments perfectly illustrate why I'm against the idea. The most vocal support comes from the biggest angriest idiots on the biggest angry idiot platform. And those are the people who'd be signing up to conduct these ops.
Gotta say, I think Marcus makes an interesting point.

I don’t use social media to argue about politics with strangers.

I use social media to talk to people about fish.

When I talk about fish on Bluesky, people ask me questions about fish.

When I talk about fish on Twitter, people threaten to murder my family because we’re Jewish.
"Bluesky is an echo chamber."
"Bluesky doesn't have enough reach"
"Liberals must return to X to challenge the far right"

I'm not a tech bro or a journalist. Your priorities are not my priorities. Stop telling me I need to do anything other than chat about comics & telly with people who seem nice.

I always remember a quote I read when I did my high school term paper on the rise of the Nazi party (because I wanted to know how it happened): "a dumpy little man in an ill-fitting trenchcoat."

Mein Kampf was a rambling, circular piece of garbage.

this sounds about right.
2025 watch #2: Hitler: A Career. A documentary of archival footage summarizing the how and why of Hitler. Useful reminder that Hitler wasn’t an evil genius or master tactician, just a coked out asshole with loser vibes who dragged as many losers as he could with him down to hell.

I just don’t get why you become a journalist or a writer to then do this shit
My colleague reviewed a paper for the journal Climate and discovered it has been written by AI (citations that didn’t exist). Not only did the journal keep the paper, they asked her to re-review it. We are so cooked.

Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.

She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:

The irony of these people complaining about the invented dangers of immigrants and then welcoming brain pollution from overseas hustlers.
Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.
