I always remember when I was a poor broke college student in 2001 and I got tonsillitis so bad I almost died and my only choice was the on campus infirmary and then shaking down my friends and roommates for $100 for special antibiotics while suffering from 105 degree fever and hallucinating.

Standing outside the local podunk bowling alley for middle kid’s sports banquet and listening to middle aged dads talking about the hunting rifles they won at gun bingo. One of those uniquely American experiences, I guess.

I have 2 college degrees, a legal background, and a loud middle aged white lady mouth. I do not know how people who don’t have those things get anywhere in this system.
I know what it's like to feel alone, to have to beg and cower to get SNAP, to live in fear of violating the byzantine SSI regs.
I want you to know there are a lot of people fighting for you right now. I'm just 1 of many, many people in this town who recognize this as the life + death crisis it is
