"potential ethical conflicts"

By the way - everything I ever sent you is off record. You're not a journalist so it's weird saying that but just letting you know.
Just a reminder to everyone that the Ninth Circuit has weird en banc rules. En banc review is done by a group of 11 judges in the circuit, the chief judge and 10 more. Of the 29 active (and non-senior) judges, 10 are Trump appointees.
Sua sponte call for en banc less than two hours after the 9th Cir decision to let loose the National Guard into Portland
Weird how this keeps happening!
BREAKING: new racist Republican groupchat has been leaked to Politico featuring texts from Paul Ingrassia, Trump’s nominee to lead the Office of Special Counsel.

Ingrassia’s texts include vile pro-Nazi & racist messages targeting Black people, Chinese people, and Indian people.
Me, whenever I talk to @friendlyatheist.com

(From this Yikes of a story: www.lawfaremedia.org/article/anna...)
They're not sending their best.

Or maybe they are and that actually seems worse.
EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

shocked to learn that the president lied about this and also this is a horrible defacing of a building that belongs to the people of the United States, not donald trump
Scoop: Trump has started demolishing the White House's East Wing facade to build his ballroom. The president had claimed construction of the $250 million building wouldn’t ‘interfere’ with the existing White House structure. /W @ddiamond.bsky.social wapo.st/4hqBNiU

Infuriating. He treats this shit like a purely academic exercise rather than, ya know, public policy and real people's lives. And then he's even wrong about the academic exercise part of things!
I'll also note that Richard is so Not Obsessed™ with this issue that he chose to repost an article from A MONTH AGO just... because?
"wHy iS tHe LeFt sO oBSesSeD wiTh iDenTitY pOLiTiCs??"
As a Professional Atheist™, hard same. Especially when the media keeps quoting them as if they speak for the overwhelming majority of atheists! Dawkins is hopelessly out of step with our community on this (and many other issues)!
This is what White Christian Nationalism looks like.

That's Vought's White Christian Nationalism in a nutshell. Only the "elect" have any claim to wield political power. Those ordained to rule, and those ordained to be ruled. It's hierarchical, regressive, and exclusionary. It stands in opposition to everything our country aspires to be.

A lot of centrist commentators who genuinely got worked up about the unforgivably insulting nature of "cling to guns and religion" or "basket of deplorables" are weirdly silent about Trump portraying himself as literally shitting on American cities

“We found over 35 cases in which the judges have specifically said what the government is providing…false information. It might be intentionally false information, including false sworn declarations time and again," says Ryan Goodman, law professor at New York University.

okay lol I just checked and I kid you not this is literally the cover of my own copy of Thomas Paine’s Common Sense.

Note: This was published in 2012, more than a decade ago. This was just the iconography the publisher felt best expressed Paine’s views.
Fine, fine. I suppose I should engage more fully and show an appropriate amount of deference to Prof. Dawkins. Please see below for a point-by-point discussion that affords his piece the attention it deserves.

1) No.
2) End of list.

The extra space before "boomers" seems to indicate the Mike Lee... workshopped this tweet? And this is what he ended up with? Such loser energy.

Good evening. We estimate that between 4.2 and 7.6 million people turned out for the No Kings Day demonstrations held around the country on Saturday. This makes Oct 18 very likely the biggest single-day U.S. protest event since 1970. www.gelliottmorris.com/p/second-no-...
Second "No Kings Day" protests likely the largest single-day political demonstration since 1970, with 4.2-7.6 million participants

Memo to Mike Johnson and his White Christian Nationalist ilk: We march not because we hate America but because we hate what they're doing to America.

The imagery here shows you why Mike Johnson & co. have been SO DESPERATE to peddle that "they hate America" nonsense. They think they can wipe their asses with the Constitution but claim the mantle of patriotism as long as they wave enough flags at the rubes. They're terrified of the real thing.
Just checked the top of all the major networks’ sites (plus CNN), and all of them – CBS included – are currently leading on No Kings.
