So when it's "ballots might take a day or two because of the way the mail works," Jason is saying even the perception of a problem is bad. But when it comes to sexually harassing your students or palling around with a convicted sex trafficker and pedophile, meh, whatevs. Got it.

Great work, WaPo.

Can we get a state Attorney General to subpoena this man's email accounts? Because yikes.
The Catholic League's response to the Epstein files? Arguing technicalities over the ages of the victims.

They're not defending faith. They're enabling harm.

I discuss this every year with my team. We pay 100% of their premiums. Asked them if they'd rather have cheaper plans with higher deductibles — and we'd give them the difference as salary and a stocked HSA/FSA. No one wanted that. EVERYONE didn't want to have to worry about navigating the system.
Dr. Oz is clearly a moron who, incredibly, doesn't understand anything about how the insurance system works.

But also: Conservatives genuinely believe that people want to spend endless hours "choosing the insurance that's best for them." They don't. They want good, secure health care. It's simple.

Let me fix that for you:

Texas A&M is limiting how instructors may discuss gender identity and race in classrooms in an assault on academic freedom unseen in America since the Red Scare.

I don’t know anything about Nordic paganism, but I do know something about evidence of animus under Masterpiece Cakeshop — and no one has given this guy the talk.
Hegseth: "We don't need to be a military of beardos anymore. Do you know how many troops claim to be Nordic Pagan? No, suddenly it's become this real fake religious affiliation inside the Pentagon where troops came to be Nordic Pagan so they can grow a beard and nobody challenges them on it."

Yeah but James Talarico follows a couple of models on Instagram and once thanked one for sharing a clip from his campaign. So, uh, both sides!

Everything @friendlyatheist.com says here is right.

But one thing to add: THE VICE PRESIDENT FOLLOWING AND INTERACTING WITH A BUNCH OF LITERAL NEO-NAZIS IS A BIGGER DEAL THAN A STATE SENATOR FOLLOWING MODELS ON INSTAGRAM
Axios tried to shame Christian U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico—and ended up exposing itself
The so-called scandal over who a progressive Christian follows on Instagram says more about lazy journalism than it does about faith or politics

The Structure of Religious Preference - Harvard Law Review
A revolution has occurred in the law of religious freedom. At this point, the picture is reasonably clear. The Supreme Court has greatly expanded the scope of the Free Exercise Clause.

Pronatalism: Just White Christian Nationalism in Disguise
Scratch just beneath the surface of the so-called pronatalism movement—a movement all over the pages of Project 2025 that’s based on the belief that people need to have more babies because declining birth rates are a threat to civilization—and you’ll find that it’s basically just white Christian nationalism in disguise.

The fact that Texas, the second largest state in America, pays their legislators $600 a month (plus a per diem when in session) and gives members barely enough money to hire 2 or 3 staffers is an existential threat to our democracy.
ryan is right. people HATE hearing this. but it is just a matter of simple incentives. if you want a more representative legislature — and if you want a legislature more resistant to corruption — then you need to jack up the salaries. serving as mayor of NYC should net you a cool 500K *at least*
people hate hearing this but it's 100% true, creating a huge pay gap between political leaders, their staffs, and other elites is a recipe for corruption. of course the flip side of that is taxes on the rich should be jacked way the hell up
