🎶And if I only could
I’d make a deal with God
And get them to switch “j” and “g”
Cause then GIF would be JIF
and everyone would be mad
But jiraffe would be said the same…🎶

I made a joke about my book turning people trans but the reality is a fair number of people who have read it have come away with a different understanding of their gender. Jokes aside, it is still an egg-cracking Bacchic hypersigil and an offering to many.

I hope everybody has lots of fun trickle treating and carving jackoff lanterns

I don't think the starter packs are a very good idea. Like I followed the "independent and worker-owned media" one and now my feed is full of eugenicists.

I want us to start mocking and belittling "progressive" journalists who call republicans psychotic and delusional. Education and outreach don't seem to be working and honestly I think we should just try hectoring. Make sure they know what filth they are.
natalieironside.bsky.social
We aren't mean enough to people who throw around the words "psychosis" and "delusional" all willy-nilly. We should hurt their feelings I think.

I need y'all to stop using mental health terms as political and sociological terms. I really need y'all to stop.

Miss Major Griffin-Gracy passed away today according to the House of GG. She was a veteran of the Stonewall rebellion and a lifelong organizer for the safety and dignity of trans people, sex workers, and the incarcerated. She came from the same generation and milieu as Marsha and Sylvia. She was 78.

I refuse to spell the word "passtime" with only one S. I simply refuse.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about the ensouled bodymind. Either your epistemology is untenably sloppy and needs to be completely re-worked, or you're espousing a belief in ghosts; it has to be one of the two.

u rly can just put whatever words next to whatever other words
natalieironside.bsky.social
Like, my knee-jerk instinct as a nihilist to rudely dismiss anything with the word "soul" in it is just being further validated

I got the email notification about this from Spreadshirt last week and promptly deleted my account. If you have one, you should too.

"So you're saying the reason you can't whistle is because you're transgender and a bottom?"
"Yes, there is precedent in the historical literature"

I’ve also been noticing this — it’s not *just* comics, but I am of course more sharply aware of the decline in buzz for comics

When I saw someone posting about Power Fantasy earlier, I was like “Damn, this is how you know the book is a scorcher: someone actually talked about it”

Speaking about hope for the medium:

What are y’all reading these days?

Was talking with someone about how nobody seems to really *talk* about comics anymore, which is kinda strangling creator-owned titles, which rely on word of mouth to work. So might as well give this a shot.

Yesterday I saw kids in a comic store. Kids! In a comic store! Excited about *Superman*! There is hope yet for the medium.

If this was happening in any other country you'd have journalists and analysts discussing risks of state failure

I always knew my inability to whistle had to mean something....

They should try calling up all the generals to call them gay little fat boys who are too pussy to kill civilians again. Maybe it will work the second time.

Buried in Michigan's antiporn bill is a provision to effectively outlaw "circumvention tools," such as VPNs.

Mark my words: legislators will increasingly leverage porn panic to restrict or ban VPNs, and to limit internet privacy far beyond adult sites.
Experts raise privacy concerns over Michigan bill targeting pornography and VPNs
Rep. Josh Schriver, the bill’s sponsor, says the law is designed to target only producers and distributors of pornography, not everyday internet users.

Years ago, a subscription drive was what resulted in my epic livetweet of Clavell's "Shogun." Now, I'm doing it again. 100 subs (12 more than what I have now) at buff.ly/R3YnYhq and I will livepost my read of Christopher Nicole's "Lord of the Golden Fan," which was Shogun before Shogun.
