It is the exact hill to die on. Even if a person were completely self-absorbed, it would still be the hill to die on. Because civil rights are civil rights and Republicans are trying to use this issue to make Dems look weak and distract from the fact that the Republican Party protects pedophiles.
Sorry but this is just not the hill to die on at the moment. Pro-trans rights here but come on guys…

Absolute bullshit, and authors, if Harlequin has your foreign rights, you should also complain.
French publishing house Harlequin decided to use AI translation instead of human translations.

All their freelance translators (some of whom had been working with Harlequin for +30y!!!) were told they would no longer receive work from Harlequin

Interesting how I haven’t seen a single person who tried to whitewash MTG’s violent history and claim she’s “coming around to our side now” speak a single word about her latest anti-trans bill.

one upside of trump insisting on a "presidential address" is it interrupted programming on every major broadcast network. so a whole bunch of normies who only see sanitized versions of
him were treated to live video of a rabid fucking hyena behind the presidential seal.

If I were running for president I'd mention in every speech and debate that I intend to seize every asset owned by the Trump family and use it on restarting USAID and immigrant/asylum-seeker protection and naturalization programs, just to see if I can make that fucker so mad his head pops.

Fuck the three Democrats who were the difference on this passing and especially fuck the Democratic leaders who made no effort to whip them into line and who will do nothing to punish them after the fact. I will never support a party who cannot pass the most basic tests of human decency.
Had the three Dems who voted for this held the line and voted no, they could have blocked it.

it is terrifying and awful that this passed the House with any Dem support at all (and once again, the continued leadership support for Cuellar is unconscionable)

call your senators and make absolutely sure this dies in the Senate, lives are on the line

trans people deserve so much better
Henry Cuellar, Don Davis, and Vicente Gonzalez joined Republicans in voting to criminalize trans health care.

The bill passed only 216 to 214.

4 Republicans voted no. If they did too, it would have failed.

Refugees learned which half they were in from a number stamped on the back of their ration card.

I'm not sure I've ever seen anything with a larger disconnect between the executive class and the general public than AI - there have been cases where executives want to push something they know is unpopular, but on AI it's like the backlash hasn't penetrated their bubble at all
What gets me about executives at movie/videogame studios being taken aback at consumer backlash to AI is that they seem genuinely surprised that we like the human beings that make the things that we like
