Unfortunately, EAA doesn't take into consideration a lot of our e-resources, although many vendors with an international customer base are fixing more than required in EAA with the combined regs of EAA and Title II in place (or soon to be).

Can't help but notice the Forbes article seems to think a good literature, etc., essay would cover the same things Cliff Notes or any number of other "study aid" sites have been doing for years. This is the same as thinking the internet supersedes having libraries!

Intelligence for Research:
A Qualitative Approach

abstract: This study examined undergraduate students’ use of generative artificial intelligence
(GAI) for research assignments and its intersection with traditional library databases. Semi-
structured interviews with 16 students revealed GAI is primarily used for grammar, summarizing,
brainstorming, and locating sources. While students value GAI for efficiency, they express concerns
about accuracy and plagiarism, highlighting a need for guidance on prompt crafting and source
evaluation. Participants reported difficulty locating scholarly articles with GAI, preferring library
databases for this task. The study suggests librarians can play a crucial role in providing GAI
literacy instruction, including teaching effective prompt engineering for database searching,
thereby supporting student research strategies.

It depends on the publisher. Some are refusing to even try (and we unsubscribe from those wherever possible), but others are meeting with us to try to understand what we want and need. I've been dealing with vendors on this for a few years (Uni policy), but Title II really ramped up our efforts.

We've asked for a way to turn off third-party e-resources that have not been checked for accessibility and they said they were looking into it. EBSCO has met with us a few times and *seems* to comprehend that content accessibility is just as important as platform accessibility.

Spooky bird stories. Last year's Halloween comic.

A comic titled Spooky Bird Stories. In panel 1, a turkey vulture is telling stories to other vultures, and it says, "She walked toward the source of the terrible smell. She got closer and closer, and then, to her horror, she saw... No dead body." A black vulture says "No!" and a turkey vulture says "Did someone already eat it??"
In panel 2, a northern cardinal is telling a story to some songbirds. It says "They peered through the windows of the house at the gory scene. Zombies had smashed through the door in the night. The homeowner was dead. But worst of all... He hadn't refilled the feeders." An eastern bluebird says "Aaah!" and an American goldfinch says "It can't be!".
In panel 3, a screech owl is telling a story to other owls. It says "And then the ghost fluffed itself up really big to appear scarier." A saw-whet owl gasps, and a long-eared owl says "Horrifying!".

I like to remind people about lifetime limits and the refusal of insurers to sell coverage to people with preexisting conditions.
