Already drawing another and picking colours 😋
A weavy green embroidery is on cream fabric. Each curve of the swirls is expanded into a gradient of green colours. The colours are full and bold, owing yo the satin stitch used.

I found lots of billowy arrowleaf buckwheat on back roads in Northern California one spring, glowing on a pale gray day. This one offered the timeless hint that one should always match one's beetle with one's outfit.

4. Atlantic lyre crab

This crab friend has a bunch of common names, mostly ending in spider crab or lyre crab, & occasionally toad crab.

We could mash them all together to make 'great North Atlantic sea spider lyre deep toad crab'… or just call it a good crab & move on.

For #ArtAdventCalendar Day 5, a friendly but very shy bog dweller.

Finished today and made from paper mache, wood, dyed hemp fibre and mulberry bark. 🐌
A gremlin or goblin figure with huge ears and a curious expression. He is draped in a cloak made from coarse mulberry bark, and bits of muted green hemp fibre that resemble seaweed functioning as a scarf. He has duck-like orange webbed feet, and carries a bucket in one hand and a fishing rod in the other. He is standing against a soft white background decorated with pieces of driftwood and some dried grass.

Day 6 #ArtAdventCalendar • Another #SciArt #symptomatology #embroidery, this one about my iliac vein compression sydrome and the stent I have to repair it: deep dilation (2025).
A pelvis with lumbar vertebrae is stitched in thick backstitch in a white just slightly bluer than the white linen. Part of the iliac vein is outlined in grey-green stem stitch. A section on the left branch is outlined in darker grey-green split stitch with a honeycomb filling stitch stent on it. Intricate turbulence is stitched in single strand dark aquamarine backstitch within the iliac vein. Three blocks of text are stitched in dark grey. They read: Branches of the internal.
