Im going to tell everyone “arbitrage” is from German Arbeit (work) + rage
File under "etymologies that make me irrationally upset"
The word ‘outrage’ consists of neither ‘out’ nor ‘rage’.

Instead, it comes from an Old French word for “excess”.

‘Outrage’ used to be pronounced /outridge/, just like ‘garbage’ is /garbidge/, but it was influenced by the unrelated word ‘rage’.

Zoom in on my new graphic to learn all about it:

stop using AI to do your research. it hallucinates too often. if you want an answer to something, post something arrogant on the appropriate subreddit. something like: "this item performs 10% better than everything else. only idiots deny this." this will bait nerds into doing your research for you.

I would point out it was the liberals, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris who ran for President on "Trump is a scary authoritarian" while leftists derided them for not reaching out to his supporters and claimed there'd be no big difference between them and Trump.
This whole thread is kind of fascinating to me, because it's predicated on an insurmountable ideological distinction between "liberalism" and "leftism", and then all of the examples he gives are purely arguments about aesthetics, style, emotion, association, rhetoric, etc.
