DURING hook-up sex tonight this guy asked me what the difference was between Webster's and American Heritage dictionaries, and this, friends, is why I miss wordless anonymous alleyway hookups of the 80s.
Ha, I go to input this in Letterboxd, to discover that I did in fact see it, most recently in September 1984 (although assuredly I saw it before that). It's remarkable how very little I remembered though.
About to watch the original THE PINK PANTHER (1963), which I probably haven’t seen in 45 years at least

I directed R&G Are Dead in Cambridge MA in 2009. My husband died unexpectedly during preproduction. The production process for this specific show in that specific context was pretty surreal, but it kept me moving.

Brilliant playwright.

These pix remind me how when I moved to Chicago in 1986, virtually every old building was caked in decades of sooty grime (coal plants across the country, I guess?) and how by the time I left in 1996, so many buildings were cleaned — and each newly washed building had so much architectural beauty.
Especially thankful that Chicago has so much terra cotta for me to fall in love with. That started me on the journey of photographing buildings about 13 years ago, and because of that, I have seen a lot of cool buildings and met some amazing people.

Twitch City is in my Top 10 TV series
I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

for the last 15 years I have given my parents each a $50 gift and they have given me a $100 check, and that is the extent of my holiday giving and receiving. It's a good system.

Me, 10 years ago: Why do we even do this
Steve's Mom: Just do this for me and don't be a Grinch
thank you for putting a wide variety of $600+ items on your holiday gift guides. I never know how to spend my gift budget of $600+ per person

I keep learning facts about Olivia Nuzzi against my will.
somehow I don't know exactly who Olivia Nuzzi is (or rather, how she came to reach some sort of celebrity status), and I kind of really don't want to know, based on context clues

Sometimes it is fun watching mutuals on letterboxd liking a hundred reviews in a row.

(This is not a subtweet — many of you actually fall into this category ;) )

I'm thinking rating systems need a Z-axis, because in the past month I've given HOUSE OF WAX (2005), THE EXTERMINATING ANGEL, and THE UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG 4-1/2 stars.

(I stand by that decision, but I clearly am applying different criteria to different kinds of films.)

It’s bullshit that The Razzie folks gave Hilton a Razzie for this.
Paris Hilton is legit well-cast in this.

This roadkill pit set piece is also awesome.

Oh look Chad Michael Murray just took his shirt off

rewatching HOUSE OF WAX (2005) (which I liked when I saw it when it came out; since then I've finally seen both TOURIST TRAP and 2000 MANIACS so we'll see how that affects this viewing; I'm optimistic)

If I could ever figure out a legit way to discuss Some Like It Hot and Vertigo all in one breath, I could probably get blocked by half of Bluesky.

I rarely post about film submissions but a plea to filmmakers: If you have a short that runs under 15 minutes, if your end credits are more than 20% of your runtime, you might consider finding a way of putting more information on the screen instead of listing every cast and tech role one by one, etc
