People consistently try and draw a meaningful division between patriotism and nationalism but it's worth looking at the history of the word and this distinction being drawn (every single time it is an attempt to rescue the aesthetics of nationalism from its content).
A Patriot is someone who's pledged loyalty to their nation.
A Nationalist wants to be in a club defined by who can't be part of it, until they get excluded from it. Then, they feel entitled to have everyone agree that this wasn't exactly what they supported.
Patriot > Nationalist

for a large enough sum, I will re-enroll in some kind of graduate program and thus make the economy good again. the correlations on this are undeniable: when I am in grad school, the job market is doing well. I am reasonable and will accept as little as $300k annually to do this.

fwiw, i think part of the reason that trump's in such a hysterical panic about greenland is because he's been told behind closed doors that this is a line he cannot cross by people who can actually enforce that.
it's not, like, ha-ha funny, but one of the funnier things about trump's greenland obsession is that it might be the one thing trump is doing that unites almost every single bloc in the republican coalition — against him. everyone hates this shit, everywhere.
