After nearly 30 years in Redmond, Mac & Jack's Brewing announces it is moving production to Bremerton where it will operate jointly with Silver City Brewery. This will upset a lot of people, but from a business perspective... heavy sigh. washingtonbeerblog.com/mac-jacks-br...

ok it's "with***" but my sentiment remains
the cover for REMAIN, a book by Nicholas Sparks and M. Night Shayamalan. But the way the text is set up it reads

"Nicholas Sparks with M. Night Shyamalan Remain a Supernatural Love Story"

POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

I live in Maine, and I haven't met Graham yet, but we share a number of folks in common. I hear he's really the real deal, and I agree with this assessment. Folks are truly pumped about him. No one I know is pumped about Janet. She has been an ok governor, but that's it.

Not that anybody comes to me for Maine politics, but the fact that the Democrats successfully convinced a 77yo Governor to primary the 41yo progressive, is today's example of why the Democrats fucking stay failing.

Susan Collins is 72 and if Schumer gets his way, she'll be the YOUNGER choice!

Colin Kaepernick last played in an NFL game during the Obama administration.

Eric Trump: "We're saving Christianity. We've saving God. We've saving the family unit. We're saving this nation. I mean, DEI is out of the window, Benny. You no longer have Colin Kaepernick kneeling for the national anthem. You no longer have Budweiser going woke as hell. All of this is dead."

Struzan’s work was the first art I saw as a kid that made me feel like I saw a magic trick. Like, I knew it wasn’t a photograph, but I just couldn’t work out exactly how it was a painting, either. A true instance of “how is this possible??”

Even after seeing footage of him working it’s still magic

We’ve lost Drew Struzan. A modern master, who by all accounts was a humble, sweet, loving, dedicated man. His work influenced culture itself, & we’ll be seeing that influence until the end of the modern world. What a legacy. What a body of work. May he rest well, & may his memory be a blessing.

Powell on Trump's immigration policies: "Stronger policy than most people had expected. We've seen a very sharp decline in growth of the labor force and in and people entering the country ... new people that come into the workforce create supply but they also create their own demand."

What a legend!

My favorite bit of trivia about the iconic Goonies poster is that he created 7 different versions that could be swapped in for the promotion of the film.
A series of illustrations made for promotion of Goonies, where the cast hangs from a cave stalactite and each other in a descending chain. There are 6 different versions on blank backgrounds that featured each cast member at the foremost position of the chain. Also included is the clean background, the final version used most often, and Drew's signature.

I was friends with photographer Greg Heisler decades ago (I have an amazing signed Time cover proof of Ted Turner I helped him with), and he told me how he was briefly banned from the White House after a photo session for GHWB.

The whites are literally arguing it's literally *unconstitutional* if they're not OVERREPRESNTED in Congress.

Just so everyone is clear, the main issue in the Supreme Court voting rights case tomorrow is whether it's racist against white people to enforce the Voting Rights Act.

I'm dead serious. We live in incredibly stupid times.

Q: We've seen images out of Chicago of federal agents shooting faith leaders with pepper balls and arresting journalists. Where's the limit for you on what's acceptable conduct by federal agents?

MIKE JOHNSON: I've not seen them cross the line yet.

c.w. torture

Torture device manufacturers in the U.S. stay innovating.

ICE has chosen the "Wrap" a full-body restraint device, to use for removals of people to 3rd countries. (Not being taken to home countries, other countries.)

@apnews.com: one man says ICE kept him in the Wrap for 16 hours.
[So disturbing. I'll do my best to describe.]

Video still:

This appears to be a video created by the company to demonstate the product, not a real prisoner. The whole lower body of a man is placed in almost a blanket that is strapped around him. There are multiple straps the size of large seatbelts with big buckles. There are straps that go over his shoulders. He is also back-cuffed. This video is a still from the moment when a helmet the size of a motorcycle helmet is being placed on his head and strapped on under his chin. he is also wearing a pale blue lightweight surgical mask.

So I asked myself, "Why on earth would this be a thing I would want?"

I love storytelling, as an art form. I love games, TV, movies, books, plays. But I think something just clicked for me -

For some people, TV is just lights and sounds.
