I guess I’m just gonna make a thread of useful gamedev stuff I want to look at when I’m at a computer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Here's something a little different for #ScreenshotSaturday, a quick look at my custom #GodotEngine plugin for managing unit actions, with the mage as an example.

Left column are the relative cells to attack, right is the cell to click to activate, and above is the rule for when it's valid.

This is a legitimate scientific revolution in meteorology.

Also, to be clear, these models are not the AI LLMs that most people are familiar with. They are machine learning algorithms trained on observations (actually reanalysis).

Meteorologists are surprised that the weather model that did the best job forecasting hurricanes this year was a new one, introduced by Google. AI may be the beginning of a new era of forecasting. n.pr/49MFa1M

ok i went and looked up the first published D&D campaign module and it's literally called "Against the Giants" and the players are fighting against giants who are plundering the villages.
"Woke is ruining D&D". Meanwhile Dimension 20, one of the wokest real play shows around, just sold out Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl for live shows and brings armies of new players to RPGs.

my hot take about the Oklahoma essay is evangelicals are soft from never having to seriously engage with apologetics as a dominant faith culture. I could have written a better essay than that in high school and it’s because Mormons have a robust culture of fake academia.

It's hard to tell apart Godot built-in scripts with their wacky names, and it's cumbersome to rename them, so I made a little addon which lets you quickly rename them after their Node. You can find it here: codeberg.org/MajorMcDoom/...

Three evenings ago I read an article about using ice packs on the forehead to help beat insomnia. The original study was from 2011 IIRC. Apparently if you drop the temperature of your frontal lobe by a degree or so you trigger a cascade of sleepy time metabolic events.

Idk which one of you said to put an ice pack on your forehead for 5 min before you go to sleep, but by divine providence I recently purchased a sleep mask with a little bean bag in it, so I put it in the freezer and then used it and uhhh. I slept for 8 hours, uninterrupted, AND laying on my back

We shed as we pick up, like travellers who must carry everything in their arms, and what we let fall will be picked up by those behind. The procession is very long and life is very short. We die on the march. But there is nothing outside the march

Okay, is there some way we can organize a marketplace here at Bluesky, so that all the many various workers and craftspeople can succeed and survive Christmas? There must be something better than feeds and hashtags. Game devs? What would an ideal marketplace for our kind look like?

You’re not mildly autistic.

This is going to be a tough take for some out there but that doesn’t exist.

I am sick and tired of seeing posts that describe themselves or others as mildly.

We can’t be doing this. We can’t be trying to co-opt younger language. We just need to respond in kind.

Gen A: Six seeeeeevennnn
Millennial: ur mom goes to college

Gen A: That’s not my name, quarterback!
Millennial: Waiting for you is like waiting for rain in this drought.
