I’m not sorry for saying this what they did to our captured relatives was beyond cruelty. They were stripped of their dignity, tortured with electricity, and treated like less than human. It was horror designed to erase their humanity.

In 1973, when Ireland joined the EEC we realised quickly that you can sacrifice some sovereignty to amplify your sovereignty within a larger international community.

It was truly transformative for Ireland and despite the bump in the road with the 07/08 crash, it has worked out really well.

Unjust of the Israelis to imprison the Palestinian doctors who have done no harm but, on the contrary had remained at their posts to carry out their professional duties, knowing that the Israelis were targeting Palestinian medics. Outrageous to torture them. Whatever action we can take, we should.

My first instinct as a naively tolerant atheist was, “Maybe it wouldn’t hurt for them to pray a bit. What harm can they do?”

Then I read their preachings.

You should read them too. Those proclamations of God’s Will serve as a sort of immunisation.

They’re probably against immunisation too.
