Good thread.
3/ In other words, neo-Nazism has developed (does develop) thru harnessing the political energies already present in other forms of rank prejudice, giving these a focus & a framework of understanding; the glorification of male supremacy/patriarchal gender norms have also played a key role.

It's unsettling how many people fell for the claim that an administration that hires open Nazi sympathizers and does a bunch of Nazi-like stuff is "fighting antisemitism."

Some want to believe, agreeing with the regime's anti-free-speech and anti-academic freedom goals. But some just fell for it.

Funny, I also watch Candace daily because I’m covering the hearings and future trial and she’s reached Tyler Robinson doesn’t even exist, it was actually Egyptian special ops that dove in through Provo airport and all the TPUSA people are gay for some reason levels of storytelling here
Ana Kasparian supports Candace Owens' claim that people at Turning Point USA were involved with Charlie Kirk's assassination.

"She keeps providing, you know, evidence in the form of text exchanges that end up, you know, bolstering or reinforcing the arguments that she's making."

'Matt Gaetz Raped A Homeless Teenager' is what you mean.

A teenager with a homeless parent? What? The fuck? Did she have a home and not allow her parent to live in it? Ended up having sex with? What? Yeah clearly you guys been caping for pedos long enough and you understand the assignment here
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

So tired of the worst, most incompetent, and nasty people failing up into positions of power.
"It’s clear Martin wants Trump to be a king, to declare what the law is and isn’t with no one who can tell him no. He simultaneously believes Trump’s pardon power should not even be bound by the Constitution, but Biden’s pardon power should be nonexistent." — @snipy.bsky.social
Ed Martin's peculiar view of pardon power
Trump's pardon attorney is very confused about how pardons work.

It's a useful reminder that sometimes tech can make a task more efficient for one side (applying for jobs), and more efficient for the other side (writing job adverts), and yet make the system as a whole completely inefficient.

My favorite Donald Trump fact is that in 2016, there was a leak of a conversation during an Access Hollywood interview where what he said about his treatment of women was so egregious that the interviewer lost his job.

Then Donald Trump went on to be elected president. Twice.

one of the wilder things about any discussion about net zero out here in regional NSW is that there are some folks who understand this as ZERO emissions. so they talk about it forcing them not to drive, or saying that we won't be able to turn the lights on, or shutting down all industry

Good on the Guardian for this. I'm astonished at how many journalists at other organisations don't seem to know this or think that it's important to mention. Coalition politicians keep claiming it's net zero causing rising costs without any pushback

Thinking today how homelessness runs through this story, through Epstein's (Virginia Guiffre had been homeless before meeting him), and even through Gaiman's (his nanny was sleeping on the beach when Palmer recruited her, and he used threats of homelessness against another victim).
The woman whom the House Ethics Committee determined Matt Gaetz paid for sex when she was 17 years old was living in a homeless shelter, working at McDonald's, and needed the money for braces www.nytimes.com/2025/11/13/u...

It is not normal to be best friends with a pedophile for decades unless you are getting something out of that relationship.

And one thing everyone knows about Donald Trump is that he is transactional.

Predictable but still amazing to watch people who spent literally years accusing every librarian, teacher, and trans person they could find of sexually grooming children suddenly throw themselves in with "actually it's ephebophilia"
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

Today's blog post is inspired by the discussion this week of the 1975 Dismissal. It looks at how Senate majorities have changed since federation, and the role of electoral systems in shaping them. I also put a case that it's multi-party politics that protects us from a repeat of 1975 #auspol

It's easy to get inured to the crazy, but this is Trump referring to the main exterior window of the East Room, a part of the White House that has been there since 1800, as "a knock-out panel," a construction term for a temporary part of a wall designed to be easily demolished to allow for expansion
Trump: "Right behind me by the way, in about 2 years from now, is a much bigger room. This will be the entrance. That's a knockout panel. It looks pretty nice right now but it'll look a lot better in a little while... The future entrance to something that's really become very popular, the ballroom."

I saw someone else post about this, and it really does set the mind reeling... most young adults have grown up with 5 years of Trump in office, and will likely see 8. -and they dont realize how bat-shit him and his administrations has been.
It's NOT NORMAL. Don't let it be!
Do political science profs have to explain to their students that, for most of American history, it was actually borderline unthinkable that elected officials and their spokespersons would constantly talk like trashy reality show contestants?
After calling Schumer a "Palestinian," Leavitt refers to "Gavin Newscum." So she's just ripping off her boss's smears now.
