Questions arise over strikingly similar signatures by Trump on recent pardons
Seemingly identical signatures appeared on clemency orders, which White House blamed on technical error

Interesting article.
We still have a landline in suburban Sydney. Mobile signal can be iffy, plus mobiles are a problem for my mother with her hearing problem and essential tremor.

How the landline is making a comeback
As smartphones swallow childhood, a growing movement of parents is reinstalling landlines, hoping an old-school corded phone can restore patience and connection.

I have some methodology nitpicks here -- there's a bit of "we went looking where we expected to find something and lo and behold, we found it" tail wagging the dog going on -- but the preprint was an interesting read and I wanna see where it goes

Among the news deluge this week were a handful of developments that help us to understand the chaos to come next year. Let’s start with Monday’s pardons.

The hysteria over Biden's pardons seems extra ridiculous now
Trump's abuse of the pardon power makes everything else look like child's play.

We saw a video last week of a CBP agent pulling his gun on a citizen in Evanston, IL.

New footage dropped today showing what “provoked him”

It was the civilian exercising his first amendment right to film the encounter.

The agent says “I’m going to shoot you”.

This is absolute tyranny.

On Monday it was a convicted drug dealer who was pardoned & then sexually assaulted a nanny.

Today it’s a scammer who stole more than 41 million dollars.

Then there’s at least ten Jan 6th people who committed additional crimes after being pardoned

Maybe no more pardons?

So weird how all these things - superduper pardon power, total immunity, no birthright citizenship - didn’t seem to exist in the Constitution until the One True Leader Trump was elected; suddenly they find all these things that’d never apply to a Democrat President
"The problem here is that some of Trump’s strongest soldiers got jammed up in state court, and neither Trump or Martin can stand the fact Trump can’t reach down and erase those convictions. So Martin is finding creative ways to shred the Constitution."
Ed Martin's peculiar view of pardon power
Trump's pardon attorney is very confused about how pardons work.

Guess whose name appears more time than anyone else’s?

Trump.

He’s mentioned in a whopping 1,628 documents.

I just heard the author Richard Morgan had been vocal in support of JKR on anti-trans stuff. I was super disappointed and went to check. The first result that came up was Morgan exhorting people to look up the good work of Glinner on the subject, so absolutely fuck that guy. Just FYI.

I no longer use "moron"

So I will not say that a person—a Fed governor!!—who claims that immigration has been a major source of housing inflation is "a moron."

Instead I'll say that he is "uninformed" about home-construction biz, median rent or purchase prices from immigrants, etc

Also, a bigot.
Fed Governor Stephen Miran: "Cutting down net migration to 0, potentially even negative because of the deportations that have been occurring, I think is very deflationary."

Those claiming Dems should retreat on racial justice aren't hard-headed realists, they're pushing against the electoral tide rather than leaning into it. The story of Gen Z isn't about racist backlash or red-pilled young men. It's the most racially progressive generation in American history. 🧵

Fear and denial are powerful emotions.

Most people have already had multiple infections and accepting the damage that’s been done is hard.

We’re also terrible at adaptation.

Too many folks think avoiding Covid means locking down forever.

They don’t realize the power of respirators & clean air!
40 years later… And the thing is, we already have mountains of data NOW that show what COVID does to brains. Why can’t we acknowledge it? Why can’t we face it? Why can’t we say it?

Crypto currency is a scam, a bubble and a vehicle for crime and any profit made on bitcoin relies entirely on tricking someone into buying it.
