This is exactly why I say wearing a mask is an act of resistance.

They want us sick.

They want us weak.

They want many of us dead.

Get your vaccines if able, but adding a high quality respirator like an N95 can prevent many airborne contagions.

I’ve said this before—and I’ve no idea if this actually applies to him or not—but one of the many big problems of the “let it rip” approach is that it’s then hard for people, including experts, to be objective about a virus they themselves have been infected with a few or more times.

In the last 5+ years, we should’ve instituted clean indoor air beginning in schools & hospitals, ensured doctors & healthcare workers wear good masks, & properly informed the public abt airborne transmission & the true dangers of COVID. Instead the gov’t opted for basically pretending it all away.

Equivalent? None. All viruses carry risk, but nothing works as fast and extends as far as SARS-CoV-2 except some other BSL-3 viruses and higher, BUT we don’t just let them rip through society. We contain them.

Agreed, but it’s disturbing the vast majority of people aren’t aware that public health was devastated earlier: in 2018 when Trump disbanded the pandemic preparedness team & in ‘22 when Biden falsely claimed the COVID pandemic was over. And now people have no idea they’re still under serious threat.

The thing that is most devastating to me about the ongoing evisceration of the public health infrastructure in the U.S right is how little awareness of what's going on the majority of people in the general public have and the impact this will have on their health and safety.

This week in 1988: 1,000+ ACT UP demonstrators shut down the FDA headquarters, demanding (and eventually winning) action on developing HIV/AIDS treatments. ACT UP's militant and creative actions always included powerful visual artwork, and paved the way for movements in the decades to come.
