I lost a friend to Chapo and Red Scare. I hope he’s doing ok. The last time we talked, his speech was littered with so many in-group ideas, memes, and conspiracies, he was unable to communicate normally.
What is never going to get acknowledged is that the Cum Town/Red Scare/True Anon edgelord podcast scene was ALWAYS playing around with Nazi tropes and memes.

This is an accurate assessment of LLMs, which avoids both the hype and the panic. I largely agree, and I would add that the incredible hype is heavily driven by unsustainable economics. It seems the revenues are nowhere near to covering the costs, and it's a race to get profitable b4 the VCs call.
