Software guy. Trying to build tools for more efficient computing to help out the planet.

Raised Jewish, pro-Palestine, now Buddhist.

Really wish I knew how to get from now to a Star Trek/Culture-style future.
Yup. Pad thai was part of a contest to make a new national dish in the mid-20th c. It's not that old.

Holy basil with pork stir-fry is probably the real national thai dish, based on ubiquity.

Good thing I've lied about my true name since I was 5.

Hey Farva, what's the name of that restaurant you like? You know, the one with all the goofy shit on the walls?

He definitely missed the part where the Culture is a post-scarcity society that had eliminated all socio-economic sources of crime.

Otherwise he'd realize that funding the common good is much cheaper than bots.

"I'm da funky fresh fuhrer, better say my name,
Got some scapegoats here on which we lay the blame"

This is awful, but we always knew from his paintings he had little artistic talent.

Yeah, I got banned from /r/worldnews over the same.

It's crazy that one of Reddit's main defaults is so mismanaged.

The higher numbers also seem to come from US Jewish org surveys that may be biased in who responds.

I suspect Jews who oppose Israeli policy are more likely to be uninvolved, and less likely to be in their org databases and polled by them.

Just my $.02.

Yeah. I tried tracking down better poll stats, and didn't find as much data as I'd hoped.

Part might be how zionism is defined in our heads; is it support for Israeli policy, or for the country's right to exist?

You will get very different numbers, depending on how it's framed.

I just noticed another one was also a mod of /r/worldnews...which would explain a lot.

The few times journalists/researchers have looked into post-election departures, haven't they found its pretty minimal? People just have too many personal and professional ties to leave, I assume.
