It was my impression that colonial railways gave empire the ability to rapidly deploy force, much like aircraft carriers during the cold war. Now of course we have drones and cyber-warfare.

Like recent fish-kill, much angst & wringing of hands but little actual enforcement.
No doubt ”lessons will be learnt“, until of course the next time. And the time after that.
As long as no single agency can be held responsible for dropping the ball, this will continue.

There is no certainty that the Israel will _ever_ recover its former ”standing” in the eyes of the world.
The bloodletting gleefully unleashed on children, women and elderly, not to mention the innocent and impoverished, speaks to a cruelty and fanaticism that runs system-deep through that state.
