The idea 'loving parents' don't support FGM is a misunderstanding of culture and the role FGM plays in it. I worked in South Ethiopia as a reporter and was told by a kind doctor (and father) that it was necessary to 'control' girls and women and a 'gift' to them. #FGM is barbaric.

Excellent but deeply frustrating listen, defined by hand-washing, back-watching by the guys leading agencies and a very long-fingering (I've sent a letter to IFI Chair) denial of urgency by Minister. It can absolutely happen again as nothing has changed to ensure it couldn't. #Spéirghorm
