This is an exact encapsulation of why I moved to Bluesky.

No amount of handwringing in the Atlantic about how I owe some eternal Promethean suffering to the discourse is going to make me stay on a site I hate, that stopped doing anything for me professionally years ago.
Well – no. Bluesky may or may not be, as one centre-right friend who felt unwelcome put it, “self-righteous island”. But the idea that’s why we went is nonsense. That I’ve largely stopped posting on a site that’s done more to shape my career and social circle than the rest of the internet combined is less about avoiding rival opinions (I love arguing with people who are wrong!) than with the fact the site simply became unusable. It stopped generating the things (good jokes, interesting debate, clicks) I wanted; it became extremely good at generating the things (racists, pornbots, racist pornbots) I did not.

“In London cyclists now outnumber cars in the City by 2 to 1. Paris, where they now outnumber motorists across the whole city, is catching up with Europe’s traditional bike capitals, Amsterdam & Copenhagen…In Copenhagen, bikes account for almost half of commuter trips to work/school.” @economist.com

Morning thoughts on the ceasefire and how it proceeds.

Does peace have a real chance this time?

So, so much remains very unclear - perhaps deliberately so.

The now deleted video from Heather Humphreys’ team including an image of the Reichstag building in Berlin.

Video focused on how Heather knows the border and the North - and was posted days after she said she doesn’t just go on “day trips”.

Gavin has shown himself unfit to be President. This is why we should let our current President take a third term, despite his age. Who cares what the constitution says.

Taoiseach on Six One says Fianna Fáil did due diligence by asking him if he ever had an issue with a tenant.

"We asked him and he said 'No'."

I mean, it's not the most comprehensive interrogation of the issue is it?

Anyone who seeks to make Ireland a better place through public service should be commended.

Jim Gavin has made the right decision for himself and his family. I wish him well.
Tá moladh tuillte ag aon duine a dhéanann iarracht an tír seo a fheabhsú trí sheirbhís phoiblí a thabhairt.

Tá an cinneadh ceart déanta ag Jim Gavin dó féin agus dá chlann.
