My local university and former employer, Lancaster, is opening a new campus in India *at the same time* as threatening UK staff with redundancies. How will the overseas campus work? How will the fees structure work? This can't be about anything other than money, and it smells very colonialist.

Yes… I don’t get it though. To make a deepfake you need to record a video anyway, and as far as I know genAI can’t generate videos like that from scratch.

Apart from the abject horror of this, why not just record a video?

One curious thing on this site about speaking out against the encroachment of LLMs is that inevitably you get accused of being anti-tech. I don’t hate technology. I’ve used machine learning in my own code before. But I also recognize that oligarchs are so hellbent on pushing this tech for a reason.

I'd still say the character at the end of what we think is "growth", looks more like the S in "sex". But ignore me because I get totally overinvested in this kind of thing 😂
