and the INSTANT you concede that xyz group doesn't matter enough to protect?

you have collaborated with genociders.

desperately wanting to help folx understand how connected this entire pile of bs is instead of pulling single threads one by one

the FABRIC suffocating our lives is woven of these threads of specific oppressions

the pattern is RIGHT THERE if we stand back a lil +recognize eachother's humanity.
jucifer.blacksky.app
jfc i am so sorry (and unfortunately relate to that watching ppl who know better but still won't, even for those they love)

🫂🤬🫂
jucifer.blacksky.app
you're arguing points i never stated so i'll stop engaging.

but the entire reason for my threads was ppl saying, literally, they think they only need the single intervention of vaccine.
jucifer.blacksky.app
telling ppl the facts, including dispelling the VERY common misbelief that vaccination is all we need to do to protect ourselves and others, in no way is a feature of "antivax rhetoric"

if you know this as u say i am unsure why you hopped in here, but. i am glad that you do know.🙂
jucifer.blacksky.app
to be excruciatingly clear, vaccination provides *some* protection against various impacts of covid and *good* protection against its worst acute impacts, *if* you can stay utd *with* new formulations targeted to projected next mutations *and* are not IC

*but* it is not a magical forcefield (alas).

no and no.

but don't take it from me, please refer to the source i linked which itself (published yesterday) builds on all the established research.

It’s funny how that works right? How the concepts most closely associated with Black thinkers regularly become a pejorative shorthand when they gain salience among white people.

This is a big piece people shouldn’t overlook. It’s hard not to think about all the people who argued for a "less restrictive" culture while utilizing their proximity, or wink and nod affiliation, with these people, and not believe this has all been an open secret among the press.
cwarzel.bsky.social
it also highlights a big point of the political project across social networks, which is to find ways to make this kind of dehumanizing and hatred less surprising and acceptable as a part of a culture. its why i've always felt weird about the mainstreaming of so much 4chan langauge and meme stuff

"Both pandemics exhibit failures in global solidarity and reveal inequities in healthcare access."

tl;dr Chanda was right (in both senses, accurate and ethical!)

...

please, please, PLEASE let's stop falling for, then amplifying, lies that hurt every single one of us?

Tissue reservoir persistence drives long-term damage in both HIV and SARS-CoV-2. SARS-CoV-2 mirrors HIV-1 in its ability to evade immune defenses and cause chronic infection.

SARS-CoV-2 -associated neurological disorders (SAND) parallel HIV-associated neurological disorders (HAND)."

🧵here's comparison section,

"Highlights

HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 are preventable infectious diseases with chronic systemic impacts including immune system dysfunction.

Chronic inflammation, immune exhaustion, and accelerated biological aging are shared hallmarks of HIVI/AIDS and Long COVID/PASC.

"...measures, research into treatments and biomarkers for persistence."

article also notes airborne infectivity as a particular problem,

"A small number of airborne virions suffice for SARS-CoV-2 infection, making containment more challenging."
jucifer.blacksky.app
🧵"The virus’s subacute and chronic persistence, vascular pathology, immune evasion, neurological impacts, systemic damage and contribution to population-wide immune dysfunction pose a SIGNIFICANT LONG-TERM PUBLIC HEALTH THREAT.

Addressing these challenges requires sustained infection control...
jucifer.blacksky.app
anyway, this peer-reviewed article in respected global public health journal begs to differ with OP, directly in fact:

"As governments rolled back protections... stigma shifted to those advocating continued precautions... [called] “overly cautious” despite objective ongoing and significant harms"🧵

also and finally: to paint use of PPE as a flaw/anxiety is to play directly into eugenics-based bigotry.

would ppl suggest it's unreasonable to use respirators@ jobs around e.g. asbestos? what mindset might?

'fear'=attached to ableist construct wherein strength means rejecting need for protection.
jucifer.blacksky.app
trust me it is tiresome being construed a pedant and/or accused of MI for *checks notes* understanding infectious disease and the physics behind masking while incorporating those into a prosocial ethics

YET the issue is too important and caring for ppl [general pop] means we gotta dispute bs always
jucifer.blacksky.app
'when you're sick do what you can to avoid infecting other ppl' literally REQUIRES a mask, baseline, once you understand the prevalence of asymptomatic infections and how transmissible they are.

i hope we can get this realitybased/science-based message out in our communities instead of misinfo.
jucifer.blacksky.app
huge publichealth failure how folx dont know that covid, like other 😷-prevented airborne viruses

▪︎is transmitted by ppl who don't feel sick (accounts for 1/2 to 2/3 of infections)

▪︎damages body each time u get it even if you're vaccinated

▪︎isn't reliably prevented by vax

▪︎stays in air for hours

I don't know how many times to point out that is absolutely ghoulish and non-consensual and disgusting behavior.
To exploit the image of a dead woman who was also exploited in real life so you can live out your momentary fantasies of "what is possible" with AI is bad science journalism, also.
Sick.

Marilyn Monroe in Game of Thrones? AI Could Make It Happen Soon
