A lot of parents about to learn that their nondisabled privileges do not extend to their kid no matter how much they attempt to make said kid's disability about them
... and also that your IEP's LEA was not in fact operating out of the goodness of their heart in providing supports. 💀

as it always has been, from 504-ADA and up through due process. Whether any of that will matter anymore, esp with SCOTUS opting out of reality, will be another question though 🫠

I'm also disabled so I know what it's like as an adult too. And no, I definitely don't mean parents will replace a federal department. That was the answer to your question of what "calmer heads" will fight the power. The answer is direct action and lawsuits by disabled folks, and their families...

I mathed them. Per census, there are 245 million US citizens eligible to vote (though not necessarily registered to). 77+ million voted for DT, 75 mil for Kamala.

Good reminder of the why behind dismantling special education this weekend. Eugenics, of course. Depravity. And also, as usual, it's a grift.

A policy expert described Education Secretary Linda McMahon’s push in favor of private schools as a “great American heist,” funneling money from public schools: “It’s a strategic theft of the future of our country, our kids and our democracy.”

These Activists Want to Dismantle Public Schools. Now They Run the Education Department.
Under Trump, the Department of Education has been bringing in activists hostile to public schools. It could mean a new era of private and religious schools boosted by tax dollars — and the end of publ...

I mean, I can't speak to people high up at DoEd, but my experience in the day-to-day is that special ed administrators are often the most ableist people I have to deal with in my and my kid's lives. It will ultimately be up to disabled people and families.

It also means there's no one physically there to disburse funding for IDEA, NTID, Gallaudet. Will they find a workaround? Maybe, but liaisons to those places are legally mandated so they're already in breach. Entire vocational rehab office also gone.

We should, but instead people just accuse me of making it up. Can't have it both ways!

PS liberals also have a giant ableism problem so. That's why. We take care of us. 🤷🏻

(not to mention that liberals also have a giant ableism problem)

It's on USA Today now, but it's very frustrating that people ate like, gee why aren't outlets run by a eugenicist regime caring about this? 🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻
novicsara.bsky.social
People are really asking me why the mainstream news is barely reporting the closing of special ed dept at DoEd like all our big media companies aren't owned and run by absolute psychopaths.
novicsara.bsky.social
I understand your point, but also: Trump voters were approx 32% of all eligible voters. 31ish voted for Kamala, meaning the biggest share, 37%, didn't vote at all.

I think the most frustrating thing about all of this is that they said they were going to do it before they did it and that didn't matter at all.

More than 5,000 federal employees have received layoff notices. We’re working to ensure that the administration isn’t using state voter rolls to target registered Democrats for termination. More details soon.

We are hearing that almost all of the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE) has been let go. This is devastating news for both the employees, who are being treated as nothing more than political pawns, and for K–12 education in this country—both deserve better.

We’ve now heard that most of the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) at ED is being let go as well. The harm caused to students if these layoffs are allowed to proceed cannot be overstated. ED cannot carry out its statutorily required duties without these offices.

Great question. At minimum, no oversight or anyone in office to physicly disburse funds into bank accounts... Having no liasion is also a violation of federal law, though, so really no evidence to suggest they won't also violate the charter 🤷🏻

Breaking: per internal sources, the entire Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS), including OSEP and RSA beneath them, was RIFed last night at the Department of Ed. Developing story. DoEd union says may take 1-2 days for all affected employees to receive official notice.

Sending love, C. So sorry to hear this.
