The thing I hate the most in my nerdy hobby is the obsession with consumerism, especially how it's often turned into a virtue. It's why I always say that there's no wrong way to enjoy retrogames: emulate, originals, re-releases, whatever. As long as you're having fun, you're doing it right.

honestly my concern isn't on how my mom could even process a modern open-world approach on pokemon or handle the various technical issues that scarlet and violet have, but instead how do i control her disappointment that there isn't an evil bullfighter squad in the game

i told my mom that apparently scarlet and violet take place in the pokemon equivalent of the iberian peninsula and now she wants to play that next, she's getting her hopes up that the villain team in those games is bullfighter-themed

my mom finished pokemon sun today which now makes her the pokemon champion in two regions

her biggest takeaways were that it had way too much talking and she liked how malasada was their main food (my mom is portuguese). she still thinks any rival/friend character isnt actually her friend.
