When I was a kid I had a big staircase (well, to me as a wee bairn). I used to get a bit of cardboard and slide down the steps from the kitchen into the basement.
I would have done it from the second floor to the first, but there was a wall divider that wasn't impact friendly.

Second, I still don't think mass layoffs should have been the answer. To me, it reads as a chilling effect for devs who are excited about a project. Okay, project fails, but that shouldn't mean the end of a job. That talent can be put elsewhere.
