But in neighborhoods across this city, ICE is getting chased by people blowing whistles and shouting. People are running TOWARD ICE to protect their neighbors.

The other thing that gets under my skin re: the “closely resembled a Nazi symbol” line is that Platner’s deleted Reddit posts included a ton of posts defending veterans with SS lightning bolt tattoos, claiming that it wasn’t a Nazi symbol because it could also be a symbol of military snipers

It's not odd that far right Christians glorify Rome at all. Rome created Christianity as we understand it today. Before Constantine converted Christianity was just a Jewish doomsday cult -- one of thousands.

Okay, but Christianity was also the state religion of the Roman Empire for over 1000 years, from 380 until the fall of Constantinople in 1453. Modern Christianity, incl the trinity, the Nicene crede, etc all come out of Rome and it's official involvement in the Church.
