Sharing this sweet spider again for #inverteFest 😁

Inspired by a spider I shared a living space with for a while, until she went off into the forest to chase her own dreams.

Such a waste of time and money, and even worse, bad research muddies the waters and actually leads to LESS understanding instead of more
🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ the incompetence is so maddening. All those research dollars wasted on irrelevant studies, based on a fundamental misunderstanding of the illness they’re supposedly trying to research. Meanwhile, literally anyone with me/cfs could tell them that the most important core defining feature is PEM
P.s.- I was really feeling the alt text for this today. If you’re in the mood for like half a story, and aren’t sure of the meaning of this piece, give it a read :)

Some fun guys sitting under a fig tree.
Too early to say for sure. He seems smart, and we’ve been talking to him a lot in simple language, so I bet at the very least he’ll pick up some of his key phrases and words in the not-too-distant future. He’s certainly been hearing plenty of “no” in his merciless pursuit of shoelaces and food 😂
That boy is just too cute 🥰

So now I’m trying to figure out how to communicate that concern without it being misconstrued as complaining 🤔 bc I genuinely do greatly appreciate their efforts, & know it’s always a risk I take coming into someone else’s home. I just don’t want them inadvertently making their condition worse 😕
But, once I got back home, I found that everything I'd brought had picked up a heavy scent just from being in the same house as their scented laundry. I know how to get it out of my stuff, but it made me concerned that it's making their asthma & headaches worse!
Absolutely. I actually just got back from visiting a family member who struggles with asthma and headaches, and still uses scented laundry stuff. I really appreciated that they went to lengths to double-wash sheets and towels for me in unscented detergent, so that I’d be comfortable!
I was reading about that too! Apparently a lot of hotels have those now - and some even sell them to take back home 🤢 blechhhh
Thanks! The decorations were really cool. They do a Halloween event at night with lights - definitely want to check that out one of these years!
Here’s hoping!!

I recently found out that most hotels are pumping scents through their HVAC systems now too 😵‍💫 so gross.

And no problem! Happy to share knowledge on saving belongings from the great stink.
Oh, & soaking with dish soap. Often it takes a combination of all those methods.

I love thrift shopping for clothes, and holy cow, there are items I’ve had to wash 10-15 times with different things to finally get the smell out 😖 it’s insane. It’s wild that those types of products aren’t regulated
I’ve had pretty good luck lately with leaving things like that out in the sun for like 1-3 days… absorbing scents with cheap coffee grounds left to sit for days/weeks/months… & for laundry, Calgon water softener (which also stinks, but washes out with an additional wash with detergent or vinegar)
