We Global South women, women of colour etc have the right to write in any genre we choose. It's not all necessarily torture porn about how "oppressed" we are for your consumption nor are we required to write "revolutionary" writing based on your limited understanding of revolution or autonomy.

I was a new mother and struggling with it, in an abusive relationship, and had no real supports. Someone I trusted told me that I was doing 'better than 50% of the mother's out there'. Most backhanded compliment I've ever received but it stuck with me all these years. Exactly what I needed to hear.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.
