I've heard a lot of good things about those.

I'm (theoreticaly) reading Incarnations: India in Fifty Lives, by Sunil Khilnani. On a long hiatus thanks to mental health stuff but hoping to be picking it up again soon.

It's fascinating weaving together of historical and current India.

Sometimes the conflict is that the community has already had their world destroyed by colonialism, and sometimes the protagonist isn’t ahh action hero but someone who manages to survive. Sometimes the point of a story isn’t to entertain you.

I looked over some reviews. Reading Goodreads is a whole thing but interesting sometimes. You have to appreciate that this book is not written from a Canadian, typically Western story craft tradition. Stories are very different in Anishinaabe culture. They don’t follow rules about character arcs etc
