Cool!! What a great timeline we’re in.
Google Aja Wilson and Gemini will confirm the BS story. #1 on the "What's new" section.

Well, no
Very weak stuff by Bevacqua. The ACC didn't even go hard against Notre Dame in the press, explicitly to avoid this kind of outcome. Notre Dame got screwed here and Bevacqua is looking for someone he can bully as a result, which I get, but c'mon
Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua to DP Show on the ACC: "We were mystified by the actions of the conference to attack their biggest partner really in football...They have certainly done permanent damage to the relationship between the conference and Notre Dame."

“All of Notre Dame’s underclassmen and backups would’ve had a chance to play in the bowl game”

They all played in the 70-7 Syracuse game 3 weeks ago lmao

I'm glad I'm still capable of being surprised (people having strong opinions about a team that isn't their own opting out of a Dec. 27 bowl game sponsored by a breakfast pastry)

Look I get it but they played in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl two years ago. My best guess is the players got together right after they got their hearts smushed and made a tough choice. I hope they don’t regret it!
I mean there’s definitely some lighthearted digs to take about Notre Dame being too big to grace a meme bowl with their presence

But most bowl games have been mostly meaningless for decades and honestly, good for the Irish for spending the holidays with their families & not at an exhibition game

Was watching this at a Steelers bar, you could not imagine the insane energy in that room.
Isaiah Likely may be physically unable to score a touchdown.

That drop may cost the Ravens their shot at the playoffs as they turn the ball over on downs 3 plays later.

everyone on BLUESKY loves COLLECTIVE BARGAINING until it’s the PLAYERS opting out of the POP TART BOWL

*my boyfriend buckles me into straight jacket*

That’s fine 🤷🏼‍♀️

I do wonder if this goes down differently if there’s no weekly selection shows and ND just finds out today they’re the first team out.
I get the emotion of it all and the possible logical explanations for them doing it, but this just comes across as petulant loser shit.

My brother in Christ, I promise you I would not give a single shit if Pitt opted out of a bowl game. Kansas state did it last week and I didn’t make a peep.
If Pitt did this, you would have a different tone. Whatever. Your team is a bunch of quitters.

Curious if this was a team vote situation. If so, understandable because of injury risk, etc. I do think this is the natural progression for a sport that has made the playoff *everything*.
10-2 Notre Dame announces it will not accept a bowl bid after missing the playoff.

The gods in Indiana giveth and taketh
What a brutal turn of events for the Colts. Trade for Gardner because Jones is playing fantastic football, now they're both hurt. And now not sure what you do with Jones as a pending free agent this offseason coming off the Achilles.

again, you can argue about whatever (I’ve said allllll season ND really needed to beat Texas A&M) but you can’t convince me Notre Dame wasn’t elite this year.
Game ratings (opponent-adjusted single game possession efficiency) updated through conf championships: bcftoys.com/2025-gr

All four teams that reached the CFP semifinals last season had top-5 average game ratings heading into the playoff (Oregon was the one that didn't).

Also somehow ahead of a team that actually beat Florida State. Make it make sense.
Every single team who lost their CCG dropped in the final ranking except for the one that lost by 3 touchdowns and had -3 rushing yards

God is making me agree with RODGER today!! Help me!!!
I keep coming back to this:

Notre Dame's two losses were by a combined four points. Their most recent loss was on September 14th.

Alabama lost by 21 yesterday.

I deleted Twitter from my phone and my mental health immediately improved 😂
Sorry for your loss.

By the way - are you on BlueSky exclusively now (no more X/Twitter)?
December 7, 2025 at 5:49 PM
I think you can pretty easily make the argument Notre Dame was an elite team this year and could have had a legitimate title opportunity
What about ‘both teams are equally not great and they should just have 8 teams in the playoff so we don’t have to argue about which not elite team is less bad’ discourse?

(on a plane and catching up)

Dropping BYU for yesterday but not Alabama is such a perfect chef's kiss on top of all of this. Honestly disgraceful, makes FSU's omission in 2023 look like a picnic

Sorry we aren’t doing Notre Dame conference discourse today, maybe try tomorrow!
ND did this to themselves by refusing to join a conference.
