Hell everyone! My name is JD and I am a comic book writer, Media/Communication Scholar, and a big ole fan of Comics, music (especially metal) and games (video, table top, tcg and role-playing).

My main gig at a refugee non-profit keeps me super busy, but be on the lookout for cool stuff in 2025!
Man there's nothing better than listening to music you're excited about while working on a *project*

Every time I see a clip of that Fortnite event with all the IP characters together like it’s Endgame or Ready Player One, I think back to this panel from a Thor comic and wonder how it got past editorial since it’s the writer clearly implicating their own company along with every other one too.

Editor: Do you have that new design for Shredder, villain of the teenage mutant Ninja turtles?

Artist: Sure did boss, real sexy just like you asked
The Shredder is after the rogue Foot soldier The Mourner, rumored to have procured some top-secret technology to use in the mysterious device.

The Shredder is determined to undermine the Mourner's purpose.

#TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles: #Shredder #3 is at comic shops!

The only genuinely appealing part of attending the Keighleys is the potential of seeing real live Muppets in their natural habitat, a theater.

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

seasonal reminder that if someone says they don't drink:
-it's none of your business why
-hosts should have several non-alcoholic beverage options
-the holidays can be a tough period for non-drinkers
-many jokes about not drinking are bad
-people are burned out and might just be tired

This one gets me yelled at but yeah IP is just a workers rights issue. It doesnt get more leftist when the consumer demands my surplus value instead of the bosses
I imagine most of the people trying to claim that stealing indie ebooks is leftism simply have never had to worry about paying rent or for groceries but sorry, your desire for free luxury goods is outweighed by the material needs of their creators

Every time we complain about how much games cost to make, I think about Kevin Levine talking about how he had 2K throw out "seven games' worth" of material before wrapping on BioShock Infinite.

I don't think it's the coders and the texture artists wanting salary and benefits, you guys.
