Happy #FanArtFriday! As you may have noticed I currently have quite an attachment to #TraitorandtheWretch!

It’s fun to see how much my style for these two has evolved in such a short period of time!
Percy is a scarred warrior with one hand and Knell is a thin cultist in tattered robes. Percy reluctantly lets a tearful Knell hold his hand, while rubbing his amputated hand on his chin. He is thinking “awful man, * affectionate” Rephrasing of a popular tumblr post, in three parts. 1. Percy holds Knell by the collar with a skeptical expression on his face. Knell explains, “But I could kill you!” 2. Percy yanks him closer, his face inches from Knell’s “Yeah? So could another human being. So could a dog. So could a dedicated duck. You’re not special.” 3. Under a caption of “Post-rant clarity”. Knell walks behind Percy with a fond smile on his face. All while Percy is in the foreground looking panicked, thinking “Holy shit, I could’ve died.” Knell and Percy sit in a hot spring surrounded by stalactites/stalagmites. Knell is an emaciated man covered in scars, with an especially large one on his chest. He sits hunched over, knuckle tapping against his head. His other hand grips his knee, sharp nails digging into his skin, hard enough to draw blood. He says with a frantic grin, “It’s a bit muddled up there.” Percy sits a ways away, with concerned expression, eyes focusing on where Knell is gripping his knee. In the water lights them up from below through tiny luminescent fish swimming in swirling schools. Knell holds a malformed dumpling in his hand while Percy looks at him with love and amusement in his eyes. On the plate between them is a pile of other lumpy dumplings, including one that looks like it’s screaming in pain.

The Traitor and the Wretch is definitely a special book to me.

It’s a must-read if you enjoy quiet, more character-focused journeys focused around two villainous archetypes who would otherwise get left behind in the grander narrative.

Ending off this month with the same way I started: Drawing fan art of #TraitorandtheWretch!

One of the scenes that I keep coming back to where these two finally get a moment to just see each other, in more ways than one.

He sits hunched over, knuckle tapping against his head. His other hand grips his knee, sharp nails digging into his skin, hard enough to draw blood.
